Cirtec Medical announces acquisition of German tube maker

BY John Stearns

12/6/2017
Minnesota-based Cirtec Medical LLC, which provides design and contract manufacturing services for implantable and minimally invasive surgical devices and has its East Coast facility in Enfield, has acquired a German manufacturer of metal alloy tubing used in minimally invasive implantable medical devices.

Terms for the acquisition of Vascotube Gmbh, located in Birkenfeld, Germany, were not disclosed.

Vascotube Gmbh makes a tubing made from nickel titanium, known as Nitinol, which has elastic properties useful in certain medical devices, including peripheral and vascular stents and replacement heart valves, that are compressed, inserted into the body and then expanded to preset shapes, according to Cirtec.

Cirtec came to Enfield in 2015. The building it leases was part of major real estate acquisition by Winstanley announced earlier this year. Cirtec Medical leases its 75,000-square-foot medical-manufacturing building at 99 Print Shop Road.
