CT offers paperless bidding for construction projects

Connecticut has introduced an online bidding process for "design-bid-build" construction projects to expedite the bidding, according to state Administrative Services chief Melody Currey.

The new paperless system, which began Feb. 1, is expected to increase the efficiency of the bidding process, Currey said.

Such projects typically involve a design phase with an architect consultant, followed by a construction phase with a construction contractor. The new process, which uses the state's free "BizNet" IT network, will be for bids in the construction phase.

Detailed instructions on the process and how to submit bids are available on the DAS website.
