Groton lawyer John H. Durham is officially Connecticut's 52nd U.S. Attorney.

Durham, 67, was sworn in Thursday by Connecticut's Chief U.S. District Judge Janet C. Hall in New Haven. He had been interim U.S. Attorney since last Oct. 28, succeeding Deirdre Daly.

President Donald Trump nominated Durham on Nov. 1, and the U.S. Senate confirmed his nomination on Feb. 16.

"I look forward to continuing to work with the dedicated and skilled people in our office and the brave men and women of our partner law enforcement agencies in the cause of justice for the people of our state and nation," Durham said in a statement.

Durham served an assistant U.S. attorney in Connecticut for 35 years, prosecuting complex organized crime, violent crime, public corruption and financial fraud matters.

He graduated Colgate University in 1972 and UConn School of Law in 1975.
