Berlin manufacturer Tri-Star sold to Ill. firm

Berlin plastic insert manufacturer Tri-Star Industries is being acquired by Rosemont, Ill.-based MW Industries, a manufacturer of industrial fasteners and precision components, for an undisclosed sum.

Established in 1991, Tri-Star makes standard and custom threaded inserts in brass, steel and other metals for plastics applications. The company also produces screw machine products and CNC components, according to its website.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but MW Industries CEO John Bagnuolo said Tri-Star will join 20 brands that comprise his firm's family of companies, enabling it to offer customers "a broader market basket of products, both now and in the future."

MW Industries supplies engineered springs, specialty fasteners, machined parts and other precision components to manufacturers and aftermarket customers in the aerospace, medical, electronics and other sectors.
