Fewer Hartford area homeowners were late paying their mortgages in June, according to the latest data from CoreLogic.

In the region, 4.9 percent of mortgages were delinquent by at least a month, including foreclosures, compared to 5.5 percent in the year-ago period, the property analytics firm reported Tuesday. Those in serious delinquency were also fewer at 2.2 percent compared to 2.8 percent in June 2016. Serious delinquencies are three months or more past due.

The national rate for early-stage delinquencies, defined as 30 to 59 days past due, was 2 percent in June, compared with 2.1 percent in June 2016, while those past due in June 2017 were six-tenths of a percent, down slightly from seven-tenths of a percent a year ago.
