Former St. Francis exec named president of Springfield hospital

Mark Fulco, a former vice president of strategic marketing and business development for St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, has been named president of Springfield's Mercy Medical Center, effective Oct. 9.

Like St. Francis, the 182-bed Mercy Medical Center is part of Trinity Health Of New England, a member of Michigan-based Trinity Health, which operates Catholic hospitals in 22 states.

Fulco returns to Mercy after spending the past two years at Trinity Health's corporate office in Michigan, where he served as system vice president for health ministries and system office communication interface.

Fulco first joined Mercy in 2005 as senior vice president of strategy and marketing and a member of the senior leadership team. In 2015, he was additionally named chief transformation officer to reflect his responsibilities around population health management and value-based contracting.
