East Hartford aerospace manufacturer Pratt & Whitney said this week Vietjet delivered the airline's first geared-turbofan-engine-powered A321neo jet at Airbus in Hamburg, Germany.

The aircraft arrived in Ho Chi Minh City shortly after Vietjet celebrated six years of passenger flights and 10 years since the airline was founded, Pratt and the airline said.

Since entering into service in early 2016, the geared-turbofan engine has demonstrated its capacity to reduce fuel burn by 16 percent, to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by 50 percent to the regulatory standard, and to lower the noise footprint by 75 percent.

In Feb. 2016, Vietjet ordered 63 jets from the A320neo family, and ordered an additional 10 aircraft this past December during a signing ceremony in Vietnam's capital, Hanoi.

Pratt is a division of Farmington-based United Technologies Corp.
