Milford light electronic contact pin maker Bead Industries Inc., which has a subsidiary in Cheshire, has elevated its founder's great-granddaughter Jill Bryant Mayer to the position of CEO.

"To be the first female CEO at Bead after more than a century of continuous operation isn't lost on me," Mayer said in a statement Wednesday.

The Cheshire subsidiary, McGuire Manufacturing, produces commercial grade plumbing fixture trim like drains and strainers.

Mayer has been serving as corporate president since the company's previous CEO, her father, Kenneth Bryant, retired in Oct. 2014. She was named CEO effective Jan. 1.

She is the great-granddaughter of W. Calvin Bryant, and will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the company divisions' executive management teams as well as leading the company into the future through growth and innovation.

Mayer will continue to report to the company's board of directors.

Kristen Sawyer has been promoted to CFO after serving as corporate controller for the past two years at Bead.

In addition to McGuire, Bead divisions include Bead Electronics and Bead Chain. Bead Electronics makes precision contact pins for the telecom, automotive, connector, and lighting industries. Bead Chain supplies pull-chains used on vertical blinds, securing marine parts, securing plumbing fixtures, keychains and other products.
