Growing New Haven pharmaceutical company Arvinas LLC has signed a new five-year lease on its Science Park headquarters and is planning a major expansion that will bring 30 new jobs, officials announced this week.

Arvinas, which is developing drugs to treat cancer and other diseases and recently announced a major licensing deal with pharma giant Pfizer, began in 2013 in a 9,465-square-foot space on the third floor of 5 Science Park.

With plans to expand into labs and offices on the ground floor of the building this year, the company will encompass a space nearly triple that size – 27,578 square feet, said the nonprofit Science Park Development Corp.

The latest expansion, to take place by the end of February, will add 8,500 square feet to the company's existing headquarters and research space and will result in the addition of 30 jobs, said a spokeswoman with the Economic Development Corp. of New Haven, a nonprofit that promotes business and economic development in the city.

"We are delighted that Arvinas continues to grow at Science Park," Science Park Development Corp. Chairman and President David Silverstone said in a statement. "Their expansion will create new jobs, which supports our mission to provide employment opportunities in the community."

Arvinas CEO John Houston said renewing the lease was an easy decision. "With offices, labs, a larger vivarium (a facility to house research animals) and its proximity to Yale, Science Park is the perfect place for innovation," he said in a statement.

Science Park was founded in 1981 as a collaboration among Yale, the city and the Olin Corp. to redevelop the former Winchester Repeating Arms factories into a tech campus.

Wallingford tattoo shop lease

A tattoo shop has leased the last vacant space at 950 Yale Plaza, a 66,000-square-foot retail office complex off Routes 5 and 15 in Wallingford, said Press Cuozzo Realtors.

Press Cuozzo represented the landlord, 950 Yale Ave. LLC, and advised the tenant, Julie Rodriguez of the Tattoo Emporium, on the long-term lease of the 1,500-square-foot unit.
