Hooker Day Parade to continue under new producer

The Hartford-based group Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner will produce the city's annual Hooker Day Parade in 2018, organizers said Thursday.

The Hartford Business Improvement District and Hartford.com said Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner will "immediately" assume all planning and production for the parade this year and in the future.

"In our planning for last year's parade we realized that this event was outgrowing our two-person organization," said Chip McCabe, HBID's director of marketing. "At the same time HBID has started to shift our focus away from the large one-day event to more series-based events."

Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner is a community venture building firm based in the Parkville section of Hartford that's been involved in organizing a monthly open air street food event called Know Good Markets as well as a collaboration with Connecticut clothing designers called Hartford Fashion Week.

Former Mayor Mike Peters founded the parade in 1991. It went on hiatus between 2001 and 2007, with the Hartford Business Improvement District and Hartford.com bringing it back the following year, organizers said.
