Amphenol Corp. posted a fourth-quarter loss despite record sales for the Wallingford maker's electronic cabling and connector products.
For three months ended Dec. 31, Amphenol said Wednesday it lost, after tax-related earnings adjustments, $103.4 million, or 19 cents a diluted share vs. net income of $235.4 million, or 16 cents a diluted, the same quarter a year earlier.
Fourth-quarter sales were a record $ $1.9 billion vs. $1.7 billion in 2016.
For the full year, Amphenol netted $650.5 million, or $2.06 a diluted share, down from $822.9 million, or $2.61 a diluted share, netted in 2016.
2017 sales were a record $7 billion vs. $6.3 billion in 2016.
For 2018, Amphenol expects sales to range from $7.44 billion to $7.6 billion, a 6 percent to 8 percent rise from 2017. Diluted earnings per share are projected at $3.39 to $3.47, a 9 percent to 11 percent jump from last year.
