CT Water makes interim CEO permanent

Connecticut Water Service has named its longtime chief financial officer, who had been serving as an interim leader, CEO.

The Clinton-based company, which serves customers in more than 50 communities in Hartford County and across much of the state, on Wednesday named David C. Benoit, 60, as president and chief executive officer.

Benoit had been serving as interim president and CEO since last year, when former CEO Eric Thornburg resigned to take a job in San Jose, Calif.

Benoit is a certified public accountant with an MBA from the University of Hartford and an undergraduate degree from Central Connecticut State University.

During his 21 years as Connecticut Water CFO, he helped oversee more than 30 acquisitions.

The company's board this week announced Benoit's new benefit package, including a base salary of $430,000 and a grant of restricted stock units valued at $162,500.
