Promoters working to bring a United Soccer League franchise to begin professional play in Hartford's Dillon Stadium in spring 2019 want the public's help choosing a team name.

"We are building a franchise by the fans and for the fans, so we want to work together to come up with an identity that reflects the spirit, culture, and heritage of our community," said Hartford Sports Group (HSG) President Bruce Mandell.

Mandell said HSG has a form on its website – USL2Hartford.com – where fans can submit team name ideas and sign up for the latest news as we march toward our first match.

City Council recently approved HSG's lease and a publicly funded rehabilitation of aging Dillon into a venue with an all-purpose artificial turf to accommodate pro soccer and other community activities and events. Dillon's makeover is part of an overall plan to revitalize the nearby historic Colt Park.

The State Bond Commission approved $10 million in bonding to fund Dillon's makeover. It seats about 6,000.
