Connecticut's aerospace sector will flex its prowess at an international airshow in England next week.

Eight local aerospace companies will showcase their offerings at the Farnborough International Airshow from July 16 to July 22 in Hampshire, Great Britain.

The companies, including Windsor manufacturer Aero Gear, Suffield-based Arcor Laser Services, Farmington's Pietro Rosa TBM, Bloomfield-based Swift Textile Metalizing and Newington PCX Aerostructures, will display their products in a pavilion sponsored by the state Department of Economic and Community Development, the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology and the Connecticut Economic Resource Center.

The networking event allows Connecticut brands to access customers and potential partners.

"Farnborough gives us far-reaching exposure to other companies around the world," said Don Christensen, Arcor's vice president of business development.

Other local attendees said the international exposure is crucial for small businesses as Connecticut's aerospace pavilion draws attention due to its strong reputation.

The semi-annual airshows in Farnborough and Paris have secured more than $461 in sales for companies in Connecticut pavilions, officials said.

This year's airshow is scheduled to feature more than 1,500 exhibitors from 52 countries, drawing over 200,000 visitors. More than 70 percent of visitors are expected to be from outside the United Kingdom.

According to the airshow, 82 of the top 100 aerospace companies in the world participated in the 2016 event as $124 billion in orders and commitments were placed.
