St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center and an orthopedic surgeon group said they will break ground Friday afternoon on a $26.5 million, 33,000-square-foot orthopedic and pain ambulatory surgery center in Hartford.

It will serve patients suffering from sports-related injuries, spine injuries, and provide pain management services, officials said.

A groundbreaking ceremony will he held on Woodland Street at 3:30 p.m. Friday joined by officials from St. Francis, Lighthouse, Glastonbury architectural firm The S/L/A/M Collaborative, Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin and other local and state leaders.
