Bruce Carlson, CEO and president of the Connecticut Technology Council (CTC), has informed its board of directors he will step down from his post at year-end.

Carlson on Thursday said the timing is right for him to leave after leading the tech council for the last five years. He doesn't have future employment plans, CTC said.

CTC's board has launched a search committee to find his replacement.

"We appreciate all that Bruce has done for CTC over the five years of his leadership and wish him well as he sets his new course," CTC board Chairman Severine Zygmont said. "He has been instrumental in setting our strategy into the foreseeable future and has led us in the effort to attract the next generation of tech leaders into our organization."

On the heels of CTC's 25th anniversary in 2019, Carlson says the council has struck "major changes" over the last two to three years to make it "relevant" to Connecticut's technology sector.
